Remote Control and Clipboard Sharing on Zoom
Guide on sharing a screen and enabling clipboard function in Zoom client
At present, DataCore Swarm Support prefers using the Zoom client as its primary remote support tool. At times during the troubleshooting or resolution process, it is required for a Swarm Technical Support Engineer to access a customer's system remotely and access clipboard contents for copying and pasting (scripts, passwords, CLI commands, etc.). To facilitate this procedure, we provide a visual step-by-step guide on setting up Zoom on your system.
To enable Remote Control on a system
DataCore Swarm support will send a Zoom meeting invitation through the case.
The following steps are typically performed by the customer:
Click on the provided link, which prompts the download of the Zoom client
Download and install the Zoom client
Once the Zoom client interface is visible, click on Share Screen located at the bottom of the screen
Choose the screen intended for use as the primary focus during the support session.
To enable Clipboard sharing
What the customer needs to do:
Hover over the tab at the top of the screen to reveal the session controls
On the the far right, click the icon labeled Remote Control. Then select Share Clipboard. (Inform the customer that the Remote Control option might be hidden under the More button it necessary)
Certain organizations block the ability to allow remote control using Zoom. Alternative options for clipboard sharing need to be considered if a client is not able to see this option within Zoom.
As a DataCore Swarm Support Engineer will typically request control of the customer's system, the customer must approve your request before proceed. Below is what the customer sees on their end.
