Create a Test Backup Job

Create a Virtual Machine backup job using the scale-out backup repository as a target.

  1. Navigate to Home > Jobs > Backup, and create a new backup job using the Backup Job wizard.

  2. Right-click on Backup.

  3. Click Backup and then Virtual Machine.

  4. Enter a name and description for the backup job and click Next to continue.

  5. On the Virtual Machines screen, click Add then add a Test VM to the backup job and click Next to continue.

  6. Verify the Scale-out Backup Repository (SOBR) created earlier is selected as the backup repository on the Storage screen. Change the Retention Policy to the desired value. Change days for retention policy as needed. Click Next to continue.

  7. Continue through the remainder of the wizard, taking the default options. On the Summary screen, check the “Run the job when I click Finish” checkbox and click Finish.

  8. The backup job should start. Since the copy mode was selected in the creation of the Scale-out Backup Repository (SOBR), the offloading starts immediately after the backup job. Check to see if both jobs have finished successfully. Check this by navigating to the Home > Home Panel then clicking on Last 24 Hours.
Once both tasks are completed, new backup files get stored on the DataCore Swarm bucket with Compliance object locks and retention dates applied for immutability.

No additional management tasks are required for the Swarm bucket. Allow Veeam to manage the content in this bucket during normal operations.
