Changes in Swarm Cluster Services (SCS) 1.5

This release features the following improvements:

  • The use of statically allocated IP addresses is supported by default when used with Swarm Storage 15.3. (SCSL-117, SCSL-152, SCSL-292, and SCSL-319)

  • Improved tracking of node state. (SCSL-317, SCSL-336, and SCSL-341)

  • Improved support for booting large clusters. (SCSL-333)

  • Better support for partition mounts. (SCSL-270 and SCSL-316)

  • Updates to configuration validation. (SCSL-118, SCSL-257, SCSL-296, SCSL-306, SCSL-312, SCSL-313, SCSL-318, and SCSL-334)

  • Removal of bash auto-completion. (SCSL-122 and SCSL-198)

Limitations

  • This release does not include any UI support. (UIS-1137)

  • There is no support for using gPXE instead of iPXE in this release. (PLT-60)

Changes in Swarm Cluster Services (SCS) 1.4

This release features the following improvements:

  • Better support for Encryption-at-Rest (EAR) on storage nodes. (SCSL-204 and SCSL-299)

  • Added support for optional multicast. During the installation of Swarm Storage 15.0 or later, select whether to use multicast or not from the prompted screen. Changing this setting from the current value requires a complete (non-rolling) cluster reboot. (SCSL-248)

  • Resolved upgrade issue. Upgrading from all prior versions is now supported. (SCSL-283 and SCSL-293)

  • Updates to the administrative user and/or password are now correctly pushed out to Swarm storage nodes. (SCSL-212)

Limitations

  • No support for using gPXE instead of iPXE in this release. (PLT-60)

Changes in Swarm Cluster Services (SCS) 1.3

This release features the following improvements:

  • Improved performance when starting and listing Swarm storage nodes. (SCSL-142, SCSL-143, SCSL-145, SCSL-213, and SCSL-233)

  • Clearer output formatting in CLI. (SCSL-124, SCSL-141, SCSL-241, and SCSL-243)

  • Enhancements in anticipation of future features in Swarm.

Limitations

  • Updates to administrative user and/or password are not pushed out to Swarm storage nodes. (PLT-212)

  • Direct upgrade from 1.2 is not supported. A reinstall is required for upgrading to 1.3. It is anticipated that SCS 1.4 will address this limitation. (SCSL-228)

Changes in Swarm Cluster Services (SCS) 1.2

This release features the following improvements:

  • Added support for changing network bonding modes on storage nodes. (SCSL-216)

  • Added SNMP support via MIB files formerly available on CSN. (SCSL-217)

  • Included the swarmctl utility. (SCSL-182)

  • Fixes when generating a backup for SCS (SCSL-20 and SCSL-197)

Limitations

  • No support for using gPXE instead of iPXE in this release. (PLT-60)

Changes in Swarm Cluster Services (SCS) 1.1

This release features the following improvements:

  • Updated default values when initializing a new SCS installation (SCSL-185)

  • Improved the process to upgrade from SCS 1.0 (SCSL-171 and SCSL-177)

Limitations

  • No support for using gPXE instead of iPXE. (PLT-60)
