Important

The SCI pre-installer creates the template VM called datacore-sci-template-<templateID> and a VM for running the SCS node. Subsequently, the SCS node creates other VMs for Elasticsearch, Gateway, and Telemetry from the VM template. SCS uses vCenter APIs for the VM creation so SCS requires access to the vCenter server IP address or FQDN if provided.

  1. Download the Swarm Cluster Installer from the DataCore website. It is downloaded in the zip file format. See alsoAlso, see Swarm Bundles.

  2. Extract the package.

  3. Double-click on Swam Swarm Pre-installer to initiate the installation.

  4. Provide vCenter credentials and click Next.

    1. vSphere Server - A vSphere server hostname or IP address.

    2. vSphere User - An admin user with access to create VMs.

    3. vSphere Password - The admin password.

  5. Provide vCenter Infrastructure details to install the SCS node then click Next.

    1. Datacenter - Enter the data center datacenter name based on region and availability to install the SCS node.

    2. Datastore - Disk available on the host for storageSelect the available local datastore.

    3. ESX host FQDN - Enter Select the ESX hostname from the dropdown menu.

    4. Management Network - Public Select the management network.

    5. Pxeboot network - Choose Select a private network for Pxebooting configuration.

  6. Provide the below details to install the SCS Swarm Cluster Services node:

    1. Enter the hostname and domain name for the SCS node.

The hostname will be used to name the VM as well.

b. Select the IP as DHCP or Static IP.

DNS servers - Add one or multiple DNS servers depending on the requirements.

ii. For DHCP, an IP address gets assigned automatically.

  1. Click Submit.
    This creates a template VM followed by a VM for the SCS node and assigns the configured IP address. Wait for the installation to complete.

  1. Click Connect to SCS Node to launch the Swarm Installer.
