Backup Performance Comparison
Compare the backup performance with different requirements using sample examples. The 30x reduction in object count has been observed from the default block size resulted in a 3.5x performance improvement, considerably shortening the time to back up the files.
Sample Example 1
Using the 64KB Veeam default block sizes to backup the 10 VMs to a DataCore Swarm bucket results in a single 1.2TB job with the following Write/Read/Delete job times:
Job Type | Job Times | Average Speed |
---|---|---|
Writing | 233 minutes | 77MB/s |
Reading | 121 minutes | 144 MB/s |
Deleting | 200 minutes | - |
The above test meets Veeam Certification requirements if the job completes in less than 270 minutes.
Important
Veeam writes the backup data as 4,200,000 objects on DataCore Swarm.
Sample Example 2
Observe the following Write/Read/Delete job times when repeating the same test after increasing the Veeam object block size from 64 KB to 8MB:
Job Type | Job Times | Average Speed |
---|---|---|
Writing | 61 minutes | 288 MB/s |
Reading | 47 minutes | 372 MB/s |
Deleting | 11 minutes | - |
Important
Veeam writes the backup data as 140,000 objects on DataCore Swarm.
