Backup Repositories define the backup target locations representing different classes or tiers of storage with different performance and cost characteristics. These enable you to separate where different backup files are placed.
Once a Backup Repository is configured, it can be included in a Scale-out Repository by assigning it to one of three tiers:
Performance
Capacity
Archive tiers.
Swarm has been qualified for use in the Capacity Tier for backup jobs.
You will also need to specify a backup target for the Performance tier. This is typically a storage device in the same location as the source host where backups are first placed. SANsymphony nodes may be used for this purpose. Veeam then uses policies to determine when those backup files are either migrated or copied to the Capacity Tier.
The following section will walk you through setting up Swarm as an Object storage Backup Repository then selecting Swarm as the Capacity Tier for a Scale-out Repository.
