Veeam Backup
Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 offers market-leading functionality for modern data protection. It covers Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, One Drive for Business, and Microsoft Teams, along with on-premises Microsoft Exchange Servers and SharePoint Servers.
The comprehensive backup solution shares many commonalities as well as some important differences with Veeam Backup & Replication and how Object Storage Repositories are configured:
Object locking is not currently supported for supports S3-compatible object storage.
Data can be backed up directly into object storage without an intermediate stage. There is no notion of a Scale-out Backup Repository (SOBR). No special distinction is made between performance tiers (local/ DAS/ SAN/ NAS) and lower-cost capacity tiers (object storage).
Local backup repositories are “extended” to include Object Storage Repositories. Only a small cache is kept on the local storage to minimize retrievals (egress costs) from Cloud Object Storage when locating files for restores using Veeam Explorers.
